Help Promote Economic And Social Development—First Lady


The Lordina Foundation with support from the Chinese government has offered scholarships to 21 Ghanaian students to study in China. The scholarship offered to the students by the Chinese government is the second highest on the continent.

The First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama said this in Accra when she met the students at the Chinese Ambassador’s residence in Accra. She asked the students to put the knowledge they will acquire from their studies in China to help in promoting the economic and social development agenda of the country. She also asked them to abide by the laws and respect the culture of China.

Mrs Mahama thanked the Chinese embassy for facilitating the relationship between Ghana and China

“I thank the Chinese embassy for facilitating the deep relationship between Ghana and China, which goes back to the time of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and Chairman Mao.”

The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, Sun Boahong said China will continue to assist Ghanaian students to obtain any form of education in that country. She stated that the scholarship offered to the students is part of the Chinese Government’s efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

Some students who have been offered scholarship by the Lordina Foundation in collaboration with the Chinese Government, thanked the First Lady for her dedication to girls’ education.
