MISS BLACK AFRICA 2014 FINALISTS REQUESTRETURN OF CHIBOK GIRLS

As the global demand for the missing Chibok girls begins to wane, finalists of the UK’s largest ethnic pageant, Miss Black Africa UK are calling for something to be done about the abducted girls.

The finalists posed for a #bringbackourgirls photoshoot to make a stance at the weekend. The girls, united in purpose, hail from Tanzania, Nigeria, Zimbabwe,Ghana, Ethiopia, Sudan, Cameroon, South Sudan, Senegal, Sierra Leone, DR of Congo and Angola.

Miss Black Africa Director, Dele Onabowu explained that “Miss Black Africa prides itself in being more than just a beauty pageant. It is mandatory that the queens carry out charity projects worldwide. We advocate for women’s rights and strive to alleviate the plight of the less privileged”.

The Miss Black Africa team visited Nigeria in March 2014 for a charity project that lasted for three weeks. They refurbished a dilapidated classroom and converted it into a children’s Library at Central School 7 Okohia. Imo State, Nigeria.

This year, 30 girls will compete to be Miss Black Africa UK 2014 on the 4th of October 2014 at the Royal Regency Hall, London.
