Tamale, Aug 12, GNA – A group within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) calling itself   Yaw Boateng Gyan 2014 have appealed to delegates of the party to retain   MrYaw Boateng Gyan as the National Organizer of the party to ensure victory in the 2016 polls.

The group, which is based in Tamale with members dotted across the various constituencies in the Region, stated that Mr Gyan stood tall among all other contestants and had demonstrated his loyalty to the party through dedicated successful long service.

Mr Abdul-Rahaman Hambal, Spokesperson for Victory for Yaw Boateng Gyan who addressed a press conference in Tamale, said Mr Gyan had over 30 years’ experience as a politician during which he served in various capacities for the victory of the party at different periods.

He said the party risked losing the 2016 general polls if it failed to retain Mr Gyan as the National Organizer, stressing that he had donated pick-ups, motorbikes to regional and constituency offices of the party in the previous elections.

Mr Hambal said Mr Gyan played crucial roles during the 2012 election petition while at the same time influencing the setting up of a mosque at the NDC’s headquarters to enable Muslims in the party to worship their God during party functions.

He said Mr Gyan played positive roles when he was made coordinator of late President Mills campaign team in 2004 and 2008 and again a member of the President Mahama’s campaign team both of which his instrumentality earned victory for the party.

The Spokeperson said the 2016 general election was a daunting task which required the dedicated and devoted Mr Gyan to bring his experiences on board including galvanizing grassroots support for the party.

‘Yaw Boateng Gyan stands as one of the finest politicians in Ghana today. His ability to hold two successful congresses that were not marred by any unpleasant occurrences and the ease with which he executes herculean task that are within his jurisdiction have endeared him to the rank and file of the party’, he said.

Mr Hambal said Mr Gyan’s name had evolved into a household name in Ghanaian political scene and that the successes of the NDC could not be told without the mentioning of Mr Yaw Boateng Gyan and urged the delegates to vote for him in the upcoming congress of the party.
