Ministers Bodyguards In Blows

DAILY GUIDE sources indicated that the incident occurred on the Nsawam-Suhum road when a three-vehicular convoy of the deputy ministers was returning to Koforidua, the regional capital, after a tour of 20 registration centres at Kraboa Coaltar in the Ayensuano District.

This paper was informed that the convoy was crossed by a green Kia truck with registration number GX 749-14.

An eyewitness, Kojo Fosu, said the driver of the truck, one Kwasi Marfo, resisted arrest by the two policemen among the teams of the deputy ministers and was joined by six other persons who allegedly assaulted the policemen.

According to Kojo Fosu, one of the attackers bit the hand of the bodyguard of Mr. Vanderpuye and tore the name tag on his (bodyguard’s) uniform.

However, the bodyguard of Ms Frimpong, on the other hand, lost some buttons on his uniform, while the driver got his dress torn in the process.

The incident led to a traffic jam on the Nsawam-Suhum highway for over 45 minutes, when the ministers alighted to intervene by ordering their body guards to stop the fisticuffs so that they could continue the journey.

Police Patrol team from the Nsawam Division later rushed to the scene to direct the traffic.

Scores of drivers who witnessed the bodyguards in the indecent act expressed shock at the incident.
