Missing school computers: 11 security men of Kumasi Islamic SHS caged

Eleven security men at the Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi have been picked up by police following the disappearance of 43 computers from the school’s laboratory.

School authorities discovered the theft of 38 functioning and five faulty gadgets on Thursday.

Although padlocks to the Computer Laboratory appeared not to have been tempered with and remained intact, authorities were shocked to find a virtually empty room with the computers nowhere to be found.

Islamic Senior High School was among 147 educational institutions which received computers from government last year.

The computer laboratory is part of massive infrastructural development the school has witnessed in the last four years.

The Wednesday incident, believed to be the biggest institutional theft in the Ashanti Region in recent times, came just a few days after students went on vacation.

Nhyira Fm checks revealed the arrested security officers, some of whom were on duty at the time of the theft, have denied involvement.

District Commander, DSP Oduro Monku, confirmed the incident but declined to give further details because police have just launched investigations into the case. Story by Ohemeng Tawiah/Ghana/Nhyira FM
