Killer Robber Busted

THE POLICE in Kumasi have arrested one Akwasi Yeboah, popularly known as ‘Inusah,’ in connection with the gruesome murder of one Akwasi Abebe, 23.

The deceased was allegedly shot in the head at close range on May 28, 2014, and he eventually died at the hospital when he was receiving treatment.

The police had since the dastardly act traced the killers of Abebe until Inusah, who is believed to be the prime suspect, was nabbed recently.

DCOP Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, said Inusah’s arrest was a big breakthrough for the police in their fight against crime.

The suspect, he said at a press briefing, was arrested alongside five other suspected armed robbers who recently terrorized the people of Hwidiem and Ohwim.

He said during interrogation of the suspected armed robbers, it came to light that Akwasi Yeboah was the one that killed Abebe.

The other arrested persons were Kyei Baffuor, alias ‘Kofi Kyei;’ Emmanuel Ofori, alias ‘Ofori Appia’ and Yaw Akyereku, alias Yaw Addae.

The police also have in their grip Yaa Serwaa Akoto, a yam seller who allegedly spied on rich people and informed the robbers to attack them (rich people) at night.

Complainants Justice Opoku Dankwah, a building contractor and another trader, live at Hwidiem and Ohwim.

On August 3, 2014 around 12:00 am, the male robbers, led by one Tupac, attacked the house of Justice Opoku Dankwah.

Armed with pump action gun and locally manufactured pistols, the robbers purportedly cut a wire mesh over the fence wall and climbed into the house.

The robbers, who were wearing masks and wigs, then used cement blocks to break the door and attacked the occupants of the house.

They managed to rob the victim of GH¢2,400, three assorted mobile phones and an Ipad, at gun point.

They allegedly subjected their victims to severe beatings after which they used bed spread to tie them.

Using a similar method, they robbed the second victim, a trader, an amount of GH¢3,200, three assorted mobile phones and a Samsung Tablet.

The suspects then tied the victim and his family with bedspread and took away the ignition key of the victim’s car.

DCOP Kofi Boakye said the suspected robbers and their accomplice ladies were arrested at Nana Poku’s Hotel at Abrepo Highways on August 4.

Yaa Serwaa Akoto, who spies for the robbers, was also apprehended from her hideout on August 4.
