Oboubia Celebrates Ramadan With Muslims…Pledges Support For Quality Education


The National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2012 parliamentary aspirant for Weija/Gbawe, has assured Muslim communities in the Constituency about her willingness to support them, particularlythe educational needs of every child devoid of politics.

According to Madam Oboubia Darko-Opoku,the NDC 2012 Parliamentary aspirant for Weija/Gbawe, it would bean act of discrimination on the part of any leader to play politics with the education of children.

“we would have no explanation to give, if we allow politics to divide us and fail to offer the best education to our children, whom we represent in our respective positions,” Oboubia told the ccongregation.

Madam Oboubia,who is also the acting Deputy Executive Secretary at the Ghana Free Zones Board (GFZB) donated some items to Muslim communities under Weija/Gbawe Constituency, towards the celebration of this year’s Eid al- Fitr.

The items,which include bags of rice, maize, quantities of buta, dozens of mat, cartons of cooking oil, soft drinks and among others, were distributed at Mallam Mosque,Weija/Oblogo Mosque, Gbawe Palace Mosque and New-Weija SCC Central Mosquerespectively.

She however noted, “there is time for everything, politics and campaign periods are over and we cannot allow politics to divide us as a people”.

Speak to the media, Oboubia, a.k.a. OB, said would not waitto become an MP, before serving or addressing the difficult challenges confronting her Constituents.

She added, as communityleaders,“there is the need for us to take off our political colours and lenses,so as to collectively tackle developmental challenges affecting the area”.

The astute female politician stated, “what we need to be doing now is to come together, start having meetings and plan on how to assist our brilliant but needy children in the community”.

As the acting Deputy of GFZB, she realised that there arequite a lot of intelligent youth in the Muslim community, but due to lack of financial support, many of them have fallen into temptations including all social vices.

Madam Oboubia, tasked the Muslim leaders to counsel the youth against dangers associated with such social vices.

Shealso advised the youth to organize themselves into identifiable groups, to pave way for whatever support available to be given to them.

At the Mallam Central Mosque, Alhaji Saeed Abubakar Osman, who received the donation on behalf of the entire mosque, applauded Madam OB for her kind gesture.

AlhajiSaeed notedthat the overwhelming supportsreceived by the Mallam Mosque fromMs.Oboubia, sets her apart as a quality and determined leader.

Meanwhile, media reports had it that OBsponsored the painting of the Mallam Central Mosque at an estimated cost of GH¢5, 000, upon a request by the leadership of the mosque.

At the Weija Mosque and Gbawe Palace Mosque, the items were received by Issah Halidu, the Muslim Community Chairman and Alhaji Nii Adam Kwatei Qartey, the Dzaasetu of Kwetei family, in the presence of Chief Sheikh M. Jibril Sissy and Nii Anyaa.

Mallam Sheikh Eias Issah Adams, received the donations made to the SCC- Central Mosque on behalf of the community.
