Larteh chief’s palace vanderlised as angry youth want him out

Some angry youth on Saturday vanderlised the palace of the Larteh chief, demanding the destoolment of Nana Ababio III as chief of the area.

The aggrieved youth, aided by some elders of the town claim Nana Ababio III is not working in the interest of the people of Larteh.

Deputy Eastern Regional Police Commander, ACP James Azumah Abass confirmed the incident on the Midday News on Joy FM Sunday, August 3, 2014.

He said his outfit has increased day and night patrols around the Larteh palace to prevent a degeneration of the violence.

ACP Abass said no arrest has been made yet since their first objective is to secure the palace before initiating investigations into the matter.

He said the chief as well as ‘the people around him are very safe because our increased presence’.

The Deputy Commander said his officers will continue to patrol the area ‘as long as the problem persists’.
