Vodafone Ghana Supports Ramadan With Food Items Worth GHS15, 000


Telecommunication service provider, Vodafone Ghana has presented assorted food items including bags of rice, boxes of water, cartons of non-alcoholic drinks, gallons of oil, and Ghc 1,000.00 cash to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu to support this year’s celebration of Ramadan.

The gesture by Vodafone is to strengthen its cordial relationship with the Muslim community. Over the past three years, Vodafone Ghana has supported the Muslim community during Eid-al-Adhar and Hajj, the annual pilgrimage to Mecca.

Presenting the items at a short ceremony held in Accra, the Head of International Business at Vodafone Ghana, Joseph Babu said: ‘At Vodafone, we have been consistent in supporting and joining our Islamic brothers and sisters as they celebrate important occasions on the Islamic calendar. We appreciate the significance of fasting season among the Muslim community; we will continue to support them during this essential period.

”This year we will be offering 70% discount on current roaming charges for Hajj pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia to allow pilgrims stay connected to their loved ones and pay less during and after the season.”

On his part, a member of the Advisory Board of National Chief Imam, Sardauna Ali Kadiki-English, who spoke on behalf of the Chief Imam thanked Vodafone for the kind gesture, adding ‘We appeal to other corporate to emulate this remarkable spirit of sharing that Vodafone has continuously exhibited towards Muslims.’
