Finatrade Foundation beneficiaries in their third year in three public universities i.e. University of Ghana, University For Development Studies and the University of Cape Coast have completed their five (5) weeks internship programme with the Finatrade group of companies and the Biotechnology Department at the University for Development Studies in Tamale.
In all nine (9) scholars participated in the programme with six (6) of them attached to various companies under the Finatrade group namely, Market Direct Limited, Freight Links Logistics , Dry Food Processing, CCTC and Sucatrade.
The scholars under the supervision of the various Human Resource Officers were taken through the various office functions of record keeping, staff recruitments, monitoring of workers etc.
Three other scholars had their internship at the Department of Biotechnology of the Faculty of Agriculture, University For Development Studies where they were exposed to lots of agricultural related field work.
At a short ceremony the Executive Secretary of the Foundation, Mr. John Awuni stated that the internship programme was part of the Foundation’s effort to give the scholars the opportunity to have practical knowledge of the working environment and assist them develop their entrepreneurial skills.
‘We just don’t pay the bursaries of the scholars but we also equip them with hand on practical’s and entrepreneurship skills’
He applauded the scholars for their discipline and dedication to work during the five weeks and was hopeful the internship had served its purpose.
Speaking on behalf of the scholars, Miss. Emma Adom from the University of Ghana thanked the Foundation for the opportunity given them.
‘We can assure you that we learnt a lot during the five weeks and we are grateful’, she said.

The Finatrade Foundation is the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the Finatrade Group of Companies. Since its inception in 2003 the Foundation has funded the education of over 200 students studying Agricultural related courses in 4 public universities in the country namely, the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology , University of Cape-Coast and the University for Development Studies. The Foundation has also engaged in numerous humanitarian activities since 2003.
