The board and management of Atiwa Rural Bank Limited has pledged their continious support to the development of education in their catchment areas especially supporting needy but brilliant students into universities and other colleges as part of their social responsibility to the communities.
Supervising manager of the bank Mr. Emmanuel Kennedy Oteng said this at their 26th annual general meeting held at Bunso in the Abuakwa south constituency of the Eastern region. According to him, the bank has over the years assisted many students into the various universities across the country and emphasised their intention to increase the numbers in order for more students to get access to the scholarship scheme. He however stated that management have putting down measures to help improve their profit margin this year and therefore said their concentration would be based on their micro finance and susu department.
Mr Kennedy Oteng urged the public to do business with the bank since they offer free consultation on finance and its management to clients to equip them with knowledge on how to manage well their scarce resources properly.
The board chairman of the bank, Professor Apori Samuel Obeng commended management and staff for their hard work over the years and urged them to do more in the years ahead. He said the bank made a profit of 327,882.00 cedis in 2013 as against 222,125.00 cedis in 2012 which represents 48% in profit. “The emergence of banking institutions and micro finance was a problem to the bank but due to pragmatic measures and help from ARB Apex bank, we are addressing the competitions” the chairman added.
Professor Apori therefore hoped Ghana will be able to deal with the economic challenges to enable the bank make more profits.
