Parents urged to invest in their children

Kpong (E/R), July 24, GNA – The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Lower Manya, Mr Michael Teye Nyaunu, has appealed to parents to invest in the education of their children.

He was speaking at the first graduation ceremony of the Kpong Municipal Authourity(M/A) EP School after 31 years of its existence.

The former MP expressed his disappointment at the number of parents present at the graduation and pleaded with parents to involve themselves in the activities of the school.

Mr Solomons Djaba Mensah, former Eastern Regional Chairman of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), appealed to the children to appreciate humble life styles.

He called on the parents to sustain excellent teacher/parent relationship and to regularly attend the Parent/Teacher Association meetings.

The Muncipal Chief Executive (MCE) for lower Manya Krobo, Mr Jacob F.K Acolatse, said the government was committed to providing quality education and urged parents to also contribute their quota in improving education.

Ms Joyce Akosua Atieku, the Headmistress of the school, appealed to the government to improve infrastructure in the school.

She pleaded with all stakeholders to help improve upon facilities needed by the school to improve upon their academic performance.

In all 126 pupils graduated with 40 graduating from kindergarten to   primary one, 51 graduating from the primary to the Junior High School(JHS) and 35 JHS pupils who recently wrote their Basic Education Certificate Examination.
