Black Rainwater At Akyemansa

Residents of Akyem Ayirebi and Akyem Ofoase communities and their environs were thrown into utter shock yesterday when they experienced a three-hour black rainfall.

The colour of the rainwater was so black that most of the residents were scared to collect it for domestic use.

The ‘black rain’, DAILY GUIDE learnt, started at about 9:00 am. The paper gathered that the bizarre rainfall has since become the major topic of discussion in the 30 communities in the area.

Residents who spoke to this paper expressed shock at the colour of the rainwater.

An elderly man, Kwasi Kumi, admitted: ‘In fact, my brother, this is surprising. Since I was born, I have never seen a thing like this. It is amazing.’

Another resident, Mame Yawoa, aged 55, reiterated Kwasi Kumi’s sentiments when she spoke to the paper.

The District Chief Executive of the Akyemansa District, Tom Budu, when contacted by DAILY GUIDE, also expressed shock at the colour of the rainwater. He added that he would invite the Regional Meteorological Officer to study the rainwater and make appropriate recommendations.
