Traditional leaders challenged to intensify campaign on behavioural change

Communication expert in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector, Emmanuel Addae has challenged traditional and opinion leaders to intensify campaign on behavioural change in their various communities.

According to him, they hold the power to bring about that needed change.

Speaking on ‘Clean Communities’, a sanitation oriented programme on Joy News – MultiTV, Mr. Addae added that their efforts should be backed by enforceable laws, geared towards a clean environment.

The expert noted that behaviour of a person was determined by a lot of factors including the ‘environment in which one is born and bred, where one is living, how one is educated, cultural values, etc.’

Mr. Addae also attributed the lack of toilet and waste disposal facilities in the communities as major problems contributing to negative behaviour in the environment.

Moreover, he called on the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies to make the necessary provisions in their areas of jurisdiction.
