Kumasi mayor unfazed by hooting; sympathizes with traders

The Mayor of Kumasi has assured traders at Kumasi central market of more dialogue and consultation on the rebuilding of the market.

The traders are rejecting a development loan for rebuilding announced by mayor Kojo Bonsu.

Fire destroyed parts of the market last Thursday with traders losing their wares and money.

Today they met with the Mayor but hooted at him singing the popular yentie obiaa song when he assured them government had secured the loan to reconstruct the market.

But Luv News’ Eratus Asare Donkor reports that the Mayor later told journalists he will carry out further consultation on the rebuilding of the market.

He also said the traders’ attitude was expected because they have been disappointed by successive authorities who have paid lip service to reconstructing the market for well over 20 years.

He rather called for sympathy for the traders due to their loss. Listen to Erastus’ report
