Wumbie Salifu Dassana
The Enskinment of the Wumbie Salifu Dassana as regent of Bimbilla has been described as ‘illegal and contrary to the customs and traditions of the people of the Nanumba traditional area.’
A motion has therefore been filed with the Judicial Committee of the National House of Chiefs in Kumasi over the enskinment.
Counsel for the petitioners, Yaw Acheampong of SK Boafo and Co Chambers, filed the motion in furtherance to an appeal process over the March 13, 2012 judgment in a related matter.
According to the petitioners, Naa Andani Dassana Abdulai did not die as Bimbilla Chief as the skin was deemed to be vacant following the appeal for stay of execution in the judgment delivered by the Regional House of Chiefs.
It noted that the kingmakers, led by Azumah Nantogmah, were wrongly constituted and that it was contrary to the customs and traditions of the area and therefore prayed the judicial committee to nullify the enskinment of the regent.
Gbuhima Yili faction insists the other divide acted in bad faith and were therefore trying to protect and preserve the skin which belongs to all the two gates and Nanung only.
An administrator of the SOS Villages under the stool name, Nyelinbogu-Lana Dassana Abdulai Yakubu, Salifu Dassana was enskinned the regent of Bimbilla a couple of weeks ago.
His installation was to set the stage for the performance of the funeral rites of Naa Andani Dassana Abdulai II, Paramount Chief who was murdered in his palace by some unknown assailants.
But the other faction believes the heinous crime could have been committed by persons in the palace and insists he was never a paramount chief of the area as speculated.
It would be recalled that Naa Andani Dassana Abdulai II, Paramount Chief of the Bimbilla Traditional Area and five of his subjects were murdered by some unidentified gunmen at his palace late last month.
Abdul Mumin Alhassan, an aide to the murdered chief; Chichagi Gbanlana Issah Ziblimand final year student of the Islamic University College as well as Alhassan Tanko, were all killed during a raid at the palace.
