The Mfantsipim School Development Planning Committee has appointed six more old boys of the school as Mfantsipim Brand Icons for 2014-2016.

They include Mr. Kwesi Twum, CEO of Multimedia Group for Media; Mr. J. Kweku Bedu-Addo, MD of Standard Chartered Bank Ghana for Banking and Finance; Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Politics; and Mr. Reginald Laryea, MD of MMRS for Advertising, Marketing and Events.

The rest are Mr. Moses Baiden, Jnr., Executive Chairman of the Margins Group of Companies for Entrepreneurship and Business Development; and Mr. Anis Haffar of the Teachers Professional Development, GATE Institute for Education.

The six would be honoured with their plaque of office alongside others at this year’s Mfantsipim National Fund Raising Dinner Dance and Awards Night scheduled for Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

‘The idea for establishing Brand Icons for the school’ says a release from the secretariat, ‘is to identify and appoint selected old boys of Mfantsipim whose works, exploits , expertise, competence, achievements and experiences in various fields of endeavour epitomize the brand attributes of the school; and which same could be leveraged for the holistic development of the school towards the attainment of the dreams, prophesies and aspirations of Mfantsipim as it journeys towards its sesquicentennial anniversary celebrations in 2026.

”That such personalities are positive role models for the young and old’ the release went on ‘and continue to demonstrate active commitment to promoting good morale standards; exemplify good Mfantsipim citizenship; courageous, passionate, inspiring, principled, credible and capable of acting as influential advocate of development and growth of the school’.

On the newly appointed General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyepong the release said, ‘as we wish you well in your new position, we pray you will always be guided by the thought that ‘Mfantsipim is a Brand’ and that your deeds, actions and place in history shall, at all times, be directed by the Mfantsipim creed, heritage, history, traditions, motto – Dwen Hwe Kan, school anthem, logo philosophy, values, ethics and its brand attributes above all else’.

It further said, ‘whilst wishing you a great tenure of office, we would entreat you to always and in all things, be mindful of the bigger national and global picture and in the true spirit of Mfantsipim Dwen Hwe Kan, let your decisions be proven right by posterity and for the greater interest of our nation, Ghana’, it added.

As Brand Icons, the awardees will not only be the faces of the School during their tenure of office but also mentor students and staff of the School, support activities and programmes of the School through their own initiatives, and promote the sustainability of the relevance of Mfantsipim to the advancement of Ghana, Africa and humanity.
