Group Supports UK’s Decision To Expose Boko Haram Sponsors

Citizen’s Cultural Renaissance Initiative (CICURI), an organization committed to peace building and good governance, has expressed its supported for the United Kingdom decision to investigate top politicians linked to Boko Haram.

The support was made known on Tuesday, in a statement jointly signed by the President and Secretary of CICURI, Lawrence Davies and Beke Konya, which was issued to Vangurd in Abuja.

The group in the statement addressed to the British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, expressed optimism that the UK’s move would not only expose those behind the deadly incessant attacks being perpetuated by the terrorist in the country, but also bring about a safer Nigeria for all.

The support followed that of several other Nigerians who had earlier welcomed the decision.

CICURI further stated that said the decision was in the UK’s interest because a distabilised Nigeria would also hamper Britain, and her efforts against global terrorism.

According to the organization, for Nigeria to triumph over terrorism, the foreign countries must act to bring to book high profile people with links and sympathies to the Boko Haram sect.

CICURI, however, noted that terrorism is a global threat, therefore curbing it requires sincerity, if not it could degenerate into a global problem.

“All over the world, politicians of all divides have always come together at times like the situation in Nigeria. Unfortunately what we find in our country today is a situation of blame game, and sometimes a quasi-celebratory mood whenever the terrorists strike” the group said.
