Western Media Exaggerate Boko Haram Problem In Nigeria – Adefuye

In the opinion of Nigeria’s ambassador to the US Professor Adebowale Adefuye, western media mislead people with reports on insurgency in the country.

Speaking yesterday before the United States Congress at the hearing aimed at discussing Boko Haram threat mostly affecting Nigeria’s north, the official explained that foreign media exaggerate the real problem and treat the Nigerian authorities unfairly in connection with this.

Adefuye was quoted saying by Leadership:

“All the reports from the foreign media are very untrue and unfair to the Nigerian government, and, for this reason, I challenge everybody here to go to Nigeria and you will discover that the situation is not as bad as portrayed by the international media organizations. The Chibok girls are there and we have located where they are, and we shall get them out very soon.”

The ambassador blasted western media over calling the whole Nigeria “unsafe” when there are “only three states out of the 36” are being attacked by the dreaded sect. 

Adefuye also revealed that most of the suspected suicide bombers arrested in the country were not Nigerians.Continue reading
