Man Kills Grandma Over Black Stars’ Appearance Fee

A 38-year old man by name Patrick Nuamah is alleged to have murdered his grandmother in Ndusazo near Half Assini in the Westen Region.

The horrifying event is said to have taken place on Wednesday the 2nd of July, with the suspect accusing his grandmother of witchcraft.

He is said to have strangled the 70-year old woman to death after claiming her witchcraft denied the family an opportunity to have represented itself in Ghana’s World Cup squad at the ongoing World Cup.

The police say the suspect accused his grandmother, Enam Manya for being the main cause of his cousin –who is an excellent footballer– not being able to develop his skills well enough to be selected for the World Cup, and consequently improve the economic state of the family since players who participated in the tournament received a $100,000 appearance fee.

An eye witness told the police that late Wednesday morning, Enam Manya rushed to her in tears claiming that the grandson entered her room and picked a broom and whipped her with it.

“But before members of the family could get to the house, Nuamah had already strangled the grandmother to death and left the scene,” the District Commander said.

He said the police were doing everything possible to get hold of Nuamah, with the body of the deceased moved to the morgue.
