Jonathan Off To Accra For Ecowas Summit

Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has flown out of the country and headed to Accra Ghana to attend the ECOWAS Heads of State summit scheduled to start today.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Reuben Abati released a statement which stated that Jonathan and his counterparts from ECOWAS partner country would consider adopting the union president Kadre Ouedraogo 2014 Interim Report.

The two day summit is will cover a lot of issues ranging from the report of the 32nd Session of the regional body’s Mediation and Security Council and the implementation of trade laws between member states.

Jonathan is accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Aminu Wali, Nigeria’s minister of Finance, Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and the Minister of Industry, Mr Olusegun Aganga.

The Presidency will be coming back to Abuja on Friday to attend to other urgent issues in the country.

Tomorrow’s meeting main topic will be the Political and security issues in Guinea bisau and Mali, Also they will talk about the recent outbreak of the deadly Ebola Virus that has infected 759 people and what it means to the rest of West Africa.

Apart from the 15 member state presidents expected, the president of Cameroun, Mauritania and Chad are expected. 

Also African union President and UN secretary general will also be in attendance.
