Vodafone Ghana Gains More Subscribers, Says NCA


The National Communications Authority (NCA) says telecom operator Vodafone Ghana recorded the highest number of new mobile subscribers in the month of April 2014, than the other telecom companies in the country.

According to NCA’s latest report, Vodafone Ghana gained 164,391 new subscribers bringing its mobile voice subscriber base from 6,480, 434million in March to 6,644,825million in April, 2014.

Some industry analysts are on the view that the telecom operator’s substantial increase is due to its value offerings that allow customers to choose products that meet their needs.

The report also said MTN’s subscriber base increased from 13,054,981 in March to 13,126,884 in April, while Tigo lost 13,747 subscribers, thereby reducing its subscriber base to 4,038,285.

During the period, Airtel also lost 38,084 subscribers ending up with 3,502,121, while Expresso’s subscriber base decreased by 497 subscribers, ending the month of April with a subscriber base of 154,207.

Glo also saw it subscription reduced by 210 subscribers, bringing its total subscriber base to 1,348,162. The report concluded that the mobile voice subscription in the country grew from 28,666,728 in March 2014 to 28,814,484 in April 2014.
