What FG Is Doing To Abuja Landlords Over Boko Haram Attacks

The federal government on Monday tasked Abuja landlords to have a detailed knowledge of their tenants.

Mike Omeri, the National Coordinator of National Information Centre, who made this known to Vanguard at a routine security briefing, alongside spokesmen of various security agencies in Abuja, said wanted terrorists are now looking for accommodation.

He revealed that a new tactics in the operation of the insurgents have been discovered and urged landlords to develop special relationship with their tenants to verify and know them well.

“I want also appealed to landlords and tenants in the country to be sure of the tenant to accommodate in your houses. I want all Nigerians to develop a special relationship with their neighbour in order to have a wide knowledge of themselves. Every landlord must endeavour to check where their tenants are coming from because people with dubious character and intention have moved to new area and most of these people moving to these new areas are actually being looked for. So, know your tenant and where are they coming from as you welcoming any into your premises” he said.

Speaking on the kidnapped school girls’ issue, he assured that security agencies are closing in on the terrorist.

“As you all known that citizen have joined the call for President to justify effort at finding solution to the issue of insecurity in the country particularly the rescue of abducted girls over two month ago. I want to assure Nigerian that government is not relent, President has heard what citizen are saying and is working assiduously to ensure the rescue of those children, and to make sure that peace return to the nook and cranny of this nation, so that, issue of insecurity will not spread to other part of the country” he said.

Fielding question on why the elders of Chibok community felt they were not being carried along on the rescue mission, Omeri said, the centre has been opened enough, and insisted that they cannot disclose security information just like that.

It would be recalled that insurgents recently picketed the federal capital territory when a bomb blast rocked the popular Emab plaza, leaving scores of people dead with several others injured.
