THE EBENEZER Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Sunyani, Brong-Ahafo Region, has built market stores for its members as part of efforts to economically empower them to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the church and their communities.
The church has currently completed the first phase of the one-storey building project located at its premises in Sunyani at the cost of GH¢276,000. It consists of 16 spacious rooms. Each of the stores is furnished with toilet facility.
Commissioning the grand floor of the project recently – which coincided with the unveiling of a 17-seater Nissan Urvan mini-bus acquired by the church worth GH¢99,421 – the District Minister, Rev David Kofi Anokye, appealed to the beneficiaries to take good care of the facility.
Rev Anokye hinted DAILY GUIDE that the project was intended to empower its members economically to improve their living conditions.
The phase two of the GH¢650,000 project is expected to be completed by January 2015.
The District Minister indicated that the church recently also acquired a 29-seater Coastal bus. He indicated that the two buses were intended to enhance the church’s evangelism drive, welfare system and also be used to promote community services by hiring.
Nana Ansu Atweaban, the Project Manager, on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the church and promised that the stores would be maintained for generations unborn.
The church, which has undertaken a number of projects aimed at giving back to the society and enhancing the well-being of its members, has established the Ebenezer Presbyterian Preparatory School to promote quality education in the municipality.
