THE ABURI district of the Church of Pentecost (COP) in the Eastern Region has held a colourful joint service at the Apostle F.D Walker Memorial Temple at Aburi to honour its past district executives and women’s ministry leaders.

The past district executives who had served the church for periods ranging from nine to 20 years were Elder S.V.K. Ofori, the district secretary; Elder Opare Asinor, finance secretary; Elder Lawrence Acquah, Edward Ampofo, Emmanuel Yeboah and Benjamin Addo .

The women’s ministry leaders were made up of Doris Lomotey and Rose Adu.

The District Pastor, Rev Stephen Ewusie-Ocran, in a sermon selected from Mathew 28:18-20 reiterated the need for church leaders to work hard enough to ensure sound church growth.

Rev Ewusie-Ocran continued that Jesus Christ after his resurrection from the dead charged his disciples to go all out to evangelise to the world in order to win souls for His Kingdom.

The District Pastor also mentioned the importance of Bible study in the life of a Christian and stressed that ‘being regular at church service as well as participating in the Holy Communion and in prayers are essential for church growth’ of which every leader would be held accountable.

Rev Ewusie-Ocran further added, ‘There are no shortcuts or express methods in the work of ministry to achieve miracles as being professed by self- acclaimed pastors, but that as one grows in the knowledge of God, breakthroughs come.’

He expressed worry about the many Christians who are today falling preys to the activities of what he referred to as fake pastors.

Rev Ewusie-Ocran impressed on church leaders to always avail themselves for the work of the ministry and to also ensure that converts are well nurtured for them to remain at the feet of Christ always.

A member of the current District Executive, Elder Asomani Koranteng, in his welcome address said the joint service was held to honour the past executives, to raise funds as well as get members acquainted with the work of the church.

The immediate past District Secretary, Elder S.V.K. Ofori, commended the district pastor and all current executives for holding the joint service in their honour.

He also urged the current administration to remain steadfast in their dealings with the people and always collaborate with the pastor to live up to the task for which they have been called.
