Moses Foh Amoaning
Lawyer and Sports Administrator, Moses Foh Amoaning has been named as part of a three-member committee to investigate the abysmal performance of the Black Stars at the World Cup Tournament.

A press statement signed by the newly appointed Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Mahama Ayariga named two others; Appeals Court Judge- Justice Senyo Dzamefo, and Sports Enthusiast-Kofi Anokye Owusu Darko as part of the Committee members.

The Minister tasked the Committee to inquire into matters relating to Ghana Black Stars team’s preparation for the tournament and possible lapses that contributed to the team’s poor performance.

The Committee is also expected to inquire into the management of the  team and events in their camp during the tournament as well as Ghana’s treatment of Ghanaian football fans who were sent to support the Black Stars by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Mr. Ayariga asked the Committee to also ‘advice government on the financing of activities of the Senior National Team and other national teams.’

The Committee, after finalizing investigations, will present a report to the Minister within thirty days.

‘Government believes that a forward looking inquiry will expose lapses to engender reforms to improve the organization of Ghana’s participation in future football occurrences, ‘ the statement indicated.

The Ghana Black Stars failed to make it past the first round after they picked up a point from the three group games played against the United States, Germany and Portugal.

Many fans have attributed  the team’s poor display in the tournament to off-pitch issues.

A player row over the delay in the payment of appearance fees was followed by the dismissal of two of the team’s senior players; Sulley Muntari and Kevin Prince Boateng before the final group match against Portugal in Brasilia.
