There Must Be A Total Clean-Up At The GFA—Agbesi

A member of the planning committee charged with the organisation of Ghana’s participation in Brazil 2014 has called for an immediate and urgent total clean up at the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Speaking on Osibisa Radio’s sports programme – THE FINAL WHISTLE in London, Mr Alfred Agbesi who had previously served on both the 2006 and the 2010 planning committees said ‘What happened in Brazil cannot be justified and the people of Ghana must as a matter of urgency push for a total clean-up at GFA if Ghanaians want to see any success in our football’.

Mr Agbesi’s call follows the laying down of responsibility of the mess that took place in Brazil fully at the doorstep of the GFA by one of the Ghana’s finest players Michael Essien. Responding to a fan who was edging him Essien to speak to Sulley Muntari, Essien wrote ‘@acheamponglilian advice your so call FA not Sulley,’ the ex-Chelsea star replied to an Instagram comment.

Muntari is reported to have launched a fisted attack on Ghana FA member Moses Armah during a meeting before chasing him up in his hotel room for further attacks resulting in his dismissal.

An obvious angry Agbesi wanted to know for instance who chartered an American flight to transport Ghanaians supporters internally in Brazil even though the flight had no license to operate domestically in Brazil resulting in the inability of the fans to travel to the stadium to support the players in the game against Portugal.

Mr Alfred Agbesi has also vowed to fully support the president in any investigation into what happened before and during Ghana’s participation in Brazil insisting a ‘total cleansing is what is needed at the GFA’.

Meanwhile the GFA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi and his compatriots – Christopher Forsythe and Obed Nketia were captured in a video for match fixing that would have fetched them £30,000 US dollars.

In the video, Christopher, who is Fifa registered players’ agent along with Obed Nketia a football club owner in Ghana and a very close associate of the GFA boss boasted that they could employ corrupt officials who would rig matches played by Ghana. Kwesi Nyantakyi later had a meeting with the undercover investigator at Miami, USA and gave a go ahead to the match fixing agents.

Even though Kwesi Nyantakyi has denied seeing, reading through or signing any contract with the match fixing agents, the questions on the lips of many Ghanaians are;

1. Why would Kwesi Nyantakyi say he had a problem with the contract if he had not seen it or read through it?

2. Why did Kwesi Nyantakyi give a go ahead if indeed he has not read the contract?

The GFA board, from technical team to committee members must be cleansed to pave way for sanity in the sector.
