More Trouble In NPP! …As Omari Wadie Threatens To Challenge Validity Of National Executive

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman of the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, Mr. Michael Omare Wadie has threatened “to direct my lawyers to file an application for joinder” if Mr. David Hoezame persists with his suit.

According to Mr. Wadie, he shall in that application seek for an annulment of the entire elections as held in Tamale and a re-election after the National Council is properly constituted.

“If we want to go strictly by the words of the Party’ Constitution, then I do believe we must not just undo some errors of the past, but must write all acts of omission or commission against the Constitution in the past,” he said.

In a statement, Mr. Wadie noted that as a contestant in the last National Executive Election, Mr. Hoezame’s claims bothers on his rights as well as the rights of all the other contestants and on the legality of the council’s decisions.

“If, as he claims the National Council is unconstitutionally constituted then it would mean that members of the National Council who took part in the election of 12th April, 2014 at Tamale did not have the constitutional right to do so.

“This would mean that the elections were not free and fair; in that some persons who did not have the constitutional right to vote were permitted to vote under the guise of a mandate they did not have,” he said.

He said based on the above, and his belief in the spirit of the Party that favours free, credible and unquestionable elections, he shall be compelled to direct his lawyers to file an application for joinder if the plaintiff persists with his suit so that the Court determines the matters he raises above in the light of the plaintiffs claims.

It would be recalled that Mr. David Hoezame has filed a suit at the High Court challenging the status f the Party’s National Council as presently constituted. The plaintiff requested the honorable court to quash the decision the National Council of the new Patriotic Party took on the 7th of June, 2014 on the date for the Presidential Primaries since the Regional Representatives who took part in the Council meeting on that day were not elected in accordance with the Party’s Constitution.
