Security Clash At NPP Headquarters Showed How Vindictive They Are When In Power

Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that the disgraceful act of destruction to property and bloodshed which took place at the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) headquarters underscores the fact that the party is bad at handling transition processes.

To him, the events at the NPP office earlier this week brings to mind the vindictive nature of the party anytime they come to power.

“…The thing that makes the whole situation interesting is that, when you practice certain things against your opponents for a very long time, those things become your habit and when you don’t have opponents to practice it against, you do it against your people.

“..The first coup d’état was sponsored by the forefathers of the NPP. You remember that immediately after 24th February coup d’état, how the members of CPP and government factionaries, party leaders, remember how they were all chased out of the system? Remember how they made the possession of any book or picture belonging to Osagyefo (Dr. Kwame Nkrumah) a criminal offence punishable by five years imprisonment. Remember how CPP was proscribed and banned from participating in the subsequent elections (1969 general elections),” the Chief Scribe of the NDC recollected.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia also known as General Mosquito further stated that “their next time of coming to power was 2001 and again, you remember how the NDC factionaries were all painted with one brush…thieves and criminals. And we were all chased from our various houses. I was chased from my residence by a group of 24 armed soldiers. Remember what they did to the former Second Lady, Professor Mills’ wife, remember what they did to Mumuni and everybody. So that made the 2000 transition very, very acrimonious”.

“…now since they are not winning power, the only transition they have, is the one between one administration and the other at their party office. And this is the only thing they know about transitions and that is why they are practicing it. So they are behaving true to time,” he said at a Press Conference at the Party headquarters.
On the question as to why he would seem interested in the happenings in the NPP, General Mosquito answered by saying that he is the Chairman of the Caucus of General Secretaries of Ghana and must therefore be interested in whatever happens to his members.
