MTN hands over electronic-library project



Tarkwa, June 24, GNA – As part of bringing Information Communication Technology (ICT) closer to those in the rural communities, MTN telecommunication service providers had constructed an electronic-library for both teachers and students within the Tarkwa Nsueam Municipality.

The project which was funded by the empolyees of the Company, and completed within 21 days, will open access to over 40,000 electronics books.

Handing over the facility to the Municipal Education Director, the Acting Regional Senior Manager, Mr. Nutifafa Ohene, explained that as part of celebrating the Company’s employee’s programme, 21 days of Y’ellow care for this year, they decided to execute the project.

He said this was an annual employee initiative launched by the MTN group in 2007, aimed at encouraging its staff to participate in community service for 21 days in each year in June.

Mr. Nutifafa commended their partners for the immense contribution to ensure that they achieved the objective for which the theme ‘Investing in education for all’ was derived.

The Acting Regional Senior Manager pointed out that MTN will continue to invest in the network infrastructure, as well as the latest technology to delight their customers with unique customer experience and innovative products and service delivery.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa Nsueam, Mrs. Christina Kobinah called on those who would be selected to manage the facility to ensure that the machines do not break down.

The Municipal Education Director, Mrs. Veronica Ama Jackson, received the facility and thanked the Company for the kind gesture. GNA EN-GB X-NONE X-NONE
