‘He Was Coughing Blood’ – Woman Lands In Jail For Killing Lover

A 34-year-old woman, Ese Itacomi has been remanded at Ikoyi Prisons by an Ebute Meta chief magistrate court in Lagos for allegedly killing her lover, Tunde Bello.

Recounting the incident, the prosecutor, Insp. Richard Odigie, told the court that the accused and the deceased had met in a commercial bus where they chatted and exchanged telephone numbers.

Ese later had issues with accommodation and called Richard for help, who offered her accommodation in his apartment.

On that fateful day, May 13, the accused had gone out an she came back home at about 3a.m. On getting to the apartment, she met the deceased coughing. She later prepared food for him, which he ate and took his herbal mixture, after which they went to bed.

He started coughing again, this time he was coughing water with traces of blood coming out of his mouth and then he hit his head on the floor.

“The accused screamed for help and the landlord rushed the deceased to a hospital and also reported the case at the police station,” Odigie said.

Leadership reports that the body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital mortuary, Ikeja, for autopsy.

Presiding over the matter, the chief magistrate, Mrs E.B. Daodu, said the accused should remain in prison custody pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
