2014 World Cup: Ghana Will Remain Cautious Against Portugal Despite The Need For Goals – Maxwell Konadu

Ghana’s assistant coach Maxwell Konadu says the Black Stars will remain cautious against Portugal in their final group game despite the need for goals to help the team progress at the 2014 World Cup.

Ghana are in with a slim chance of progressing in the tournament being staged in Brazil but must first do their part by getting a comprehensive win over Portugal in the final Group G game on Thursday.

The Black Stars will then have to rely on a Germany win over the USA in the group’s other game which will be played simultaneously in Manaus.

But Ghana’s assistant coach Maxwell Konadu insists the Black Stars will not deploy an all-attacking onslaught that will leave their rear exposed against the Portuguese.

“We will do everything possible to win the game against Portugal,” he said at a press conference at the team’s base in Maceio.

“We will not go all attacking and leave our back open.

“We don’t have to forget that they are still a formidable side. We will approach this game with caution.

“We are not thinking about scoring five or six goals if we haven’t got the first goal.”

Ghana has just a single point after two round of matches in Group G of the 2014 World Cup.

The Black Stars will definitely crash out of the tournament for the first time in World Cup history once they fail to beat Portugal on Thursday in Brasilia.
