Sulley Muntari Hands Out Money To Impoverished Community In Brazil

Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari has been caught on camera giving out money to Brazilian people during some of his down time during the World Cup.

The 82-cap Ghanaian international was given permission by national team boss Kwesi Appiah to visit the impoverished city of Maceio in the coastal state of Alagoas.

While there he met locals, signing autographs and posing for photos with children.

And then the 29-year-old astonishingly dipped into his own pocket and started handing out money to members of the community.

Muntari played a pivotal role in Ghana’s 2-2 draw with Germany

The World Cup has been a major success on the field, but the tournament has been played amongst a backdrop of frustration amongst the Brazilian people.

There have been street protests against the tournament and the exorbitant spending on the cup from the country, when money – in the region of £6.7billion – could have been used on other areas of Brazilian life.
