PHOTOS: How Bomb Scare Disrupts Normal Activities At The Federal Secretariat In Abuja

The residents of Area 1 Federal Secretariat Abuja were thrown in confusion in the morning of June 20, 2014, Friday, over reported bomb scare caused by a suspicious vehicle.

After the first reports, policemen and security operatives cordoned the area off and quickly moved in. No bomb has been found during the search. The National Orientation Agency (NOA) kept the public informed and pasted regular updates on their twitter:

NOA revealed that the search was conducted by the specialists of the Police Anti-Bomb squad. The suspected vehicle was parked inside the Federal Secretariat. 

According to NOA report, the car park gave out “potentially dangerous signals”. The officers made a thorough inspection and confirmed that there was not threat.

The agency urged the residents to resume their normal activities without any worries, asked the people to disregard any false alarm related to this incident.

It would be recalled that NOA DG, Mike Omeri, warned on June 18, 2014, about an increased terrorist threat for the country’s capital. He stated that intelligence report indicated that hijacked petrol tankers may be used to bomb the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.
