Islamic Scholar Promises To Provide Spiritual Protection, Poisons 2 Men

An Islamic scholar was arrested by the police on suspicion of poisoning and illegal obtaining money from his clients by deception, Onikan, Lagos State, western Nigeria.

A 45-year-old Alfa Jamiu Alao promised to provide spiritual protection to his clients and their families and gaveĀ them a substance suspected to be acid. Immediately afterĀ King David Orji and Raimi Oluwaseyi drank a beverage of dubious origin they fainted and were to the local hospital for treatment.Ā 

It was gathered that before carrying out the ritual Mr Alao obtained N3m from Raimi Oluwaseyi and $116,000USD from King David Orji.Ā One of the deceased were later sent abroad for further treatments as hisĀ condition critically deteriorated.

After investigation the suspect was charged before an Igbosere Magistratesā€™ Court, Lagos on a four-count charge of felony. He committed his offence twice at Mayfair Estate, Ajah, Lagos and at Ijabi Quarters, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State in April 2014.

The offences are punishable under sections 409, 312(B) and 228 of the criminal laws of Lagos state, 2011. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and magistrate Mrs. Olanipekun admitted him on bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. The matter is adjourned until 30 June, 2014 for mention.
