Policemen in Anambra State command are currently in panic following ongoing massive transfer of most of the officers to the Northern part of the country, according to Vanguard.

It was gathered that about 149 officers in the Anambra command had been transferred to Sokoto, Borno, Nassarawa, Bauchi, Plateau, Yobe and Adamawa states, among others.
Police sources, who spoke with newsmen on condition of anonymity, some of the affected officers said the transfer was being done in batches.
It was informed that about 61 officers were in the first batch, while 88 were in the second, which list was released penultimate week.
The officers described the exercise as punitive, saying only senior police officers of Igbo extraction were mostly affected.
* Boko Haram insurgents
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, was said to be behind the transfer as the issue of transfer of police officers was the responsibility of the Police Service Commission, PSC.
“It is really shocking that the IGP, who may be going on retirement next month, decided to carry out this exercise as a parting gift,” one of the police officers said.
It could be recalled that a recent report released by United Nations suggested that over four thousands innocents lives have been killed by the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria since 2009. Most of the killings were carried out in northeaster Nigeria.
