I’m Not Being Autocratic – Samia Nkrumah

The Chairperson for the Convention People’s Party(CPP), Samia Nkrumah has denied accusations that she is running the CPP in an autocratic manner.

Samia Nkrumah was accused of running the party in an autocratic manner and also disregarding the elected leadership of the party by vice chairpersons of the party.

But speaking on Eyewitness News, the former Member of Parliament for Jomoro dismissed the allegations, saying “you saw us on our 66th birthday; I was flanked with many high ranking leading members of the party. How can we hold a very successful event when we lay out the beginning or part of our economic policy without the cooperation of our various members of the party so that charge doesn’t hold.”

In her opinion, it was imperative for the party to focus on issues that will propel national development rather than focusing on the internal affairs of the party.

“There are very important issues that we should be speaking about rather than the internal affairs of a political party.”

She further stated that the letter issued by the party’s Vice Chairpersons against her was “giving a wrong impression about the emerging CPP.”

Samia Nkrumah in that regard said the CPP would look into the issue in order to appropriately deal with it.

She also advised various politicians in the country to refrain from accusing each other.
