Ghana v USA: Two most memorable meetings

Ahead of Ghana’s World Cup opener against the United States on Monday in Natal, we look back to two exciting meetings between both sides.

The Black Stars have won both previous duels against the Americans with victories in 2006 and 2010.

Ghana’s first victory came in the 2006 World Cup in Nuremberg, Germany with Haminu Draman and captain Stephen Appiah scoring for the Black Stars while Clint Dempsey got the consolation for the U.S.

The recent win at the 2010 finals in South Africa four years ago saw Kevin-Prince Boateng score his debut Ghana goal to put the Black Stars in the lead but that was canceled out by Landon Donovan. Asamoah Gyan scored the decisive match winner in extra-time in Rustenburg.
