‘Operation Know Your Rights Campaign’ Takes Off

Lawyer Maurice Ampaw, a private legal practitioner and President of the Legal Advocacy Foundation, has embarked on a nationwide crusade educating Ghanaians on their fundamental Human Rights.

As part of activities marking the four years anniversary of his Legal Advocacy Foundation, Lawyer Ampaw is touring several regions in the country with the aim of bridging the gap between the rich and the underprivileged in society.

The crusade, which is under the theme “Operation Know Your Rights Campaign“, seeks to fight against “all forms of abuses and violation of the right” of the ordinary Ghanaian.

Speaking to Peacefmonline.com, Lawyer Ampaw indicated that the project will ensure that encroachers of people’s human rights face the full rigors of the law.

“The foundation believes that one of the surest way of bridging the gap between the rich and poor in our society is to educate the people to be aware of their fundamental Human Rights and duties as enshrined in the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana,” Lawyer Ampaw.

Also, according to the coordinating Director of the project, Lawyer Sandra Ankobiah, the project is intended to “bring justice and the law closer to the ordinary Ghanaian.”

As part of measures heralding the tour, the foundation will visit schools, churches and communities to create awareness on the constitutional provisions regarding the rights of the citizenry.

The foundation also will train legal volunteers to support this noble course and according to the President, “all interested parties are to contact the following lines 0263091215, 0554022160 and 0244671011” to help maintain law and order in the nation.
