No complacency: Frimpong Manso warns Ghana against defensive lapses

Ex-Ghana international Frimpong Manso says that Ghana has defensive problems, despite an efficient attacking force

Ghana walloped South Korea by four goals to nothing on Monday in their last warm-up game through Jordan Ayew’s hat-trick and a goal from Asamoah Gyan to equal Ghana’s all-time top scoring record.

However the former Black Stars defender says that the team committed a lot of mistakes in defence that need to be corrected.

‘Ghana has a very good team, but the defence should be very cautious. It seems they were very complacent against Korea and that made them vulnerable at certain points of the game, he told Metro fm.

‘The use of Kwadwo Asamoah as left back limited him and he usually feels uncomfortable playing in that position, while Harrison Afful in the game against the game was poor on one on one situation.

‘In addition Ghana couldn’t defend our set pieces well and at any big stage this is very important.

‘Fatau Dauda wasn’t of himself, since he wanted to impress and at the end committed a lot of mistakes. I think that if Kwarasey is fully fit, he should be in post during the World Cup.’

Ghana will play their first World Cup game on Monday 16th June in Natal against USA.
