Man Killed Two While Showing Off His Marksmanship

A a 40-year-old man who killed two men in an attempt to demonstrate his shooting skills was arraigned today before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court, Osun State.

According to the prosecutor, Insp Idoko James, the incident occurred on May 18 at Ibala Village, Ibokun, Osogbo. It was alleged that Segun Amosun shot dead Oluwole Fashakin and Adeginju Timilehin while trying to show off his marksmanship.

The accused was arraigned to court on a one-count charge of attempted murder, contrary to section 344 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol.11, Laws of Osun, 2003. Amosun, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge against him. The counsel to the accused, Mrs Nnena Ugwu, asked the court to grant her client bail.

The accused was set free on bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, show evidence of tax payment as well as present an affidavit of means. The Magistrate, Mr Adebayo Lasisi, adjourned the case till July 1, 2014.
