2014 World Cup: German captain Philip Lahm warns his team-mates of Asamoah Gyan’s attacking threats

Germany captain Philip Lahm has lauded the striking qualities of Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan and warned he is a formidable threat to all countries in Group G.

Gyan, Ghana’s captain, heads into the 2014 World Cup as Africa’s all-time second highest scorer at the World Cup and is one of the strikers carrying the hopes of the African continent.

The Al Ain man bagged three goals at the last edition of the World Cup which took place in South Africa and could surpass Cameroon’s Roger Milla to become Africa’s all-time top-scorer if he scores more goals in Brazil.

And, Lahm insists the Ghana skipper strikes fear into opposition defenders.

‘When opposing teams see Asamoah Gyan’s name on a Ghana team-sheet, it scares them. Gyan is a great talent and a good player for Ghana,’ he said.

‘It’s all about confidence with strikers, but Gyan has always been more than just scoring goals.’

Eight years after Ghana’s remarkable display in Germany in 2006 and their wonderful output in 2010 World Cup and they are still reliant on one goal scoring threat.’
