The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Clement Kofi Humado, on Thursday inaugurated the new complex of Envaserve Research Consult Limited at Sowutuom, a suburb of Accra in the Greater Accra Region.

The new office is to facilitate the activities of the scientific research center, which include air quality monitoring, emission modeling, laboratory and analytical testing, among others.

Mr. Humado, in a speech to officially inaugurate the center, indicated that the services provided by Envaserve were in line with the regulatory standards of the government.

According to the sector minister, the Ministry of Agriculture was partnering the research firm mainly engaged in environmental research and consulting services to provide good research to assist players within the agricultural sector in the country.

He indicated that the government had put in place some regulatory measures to ensure the supply of quality fertilizers to farmers.

‘To ensure quality fertilizer, it is necessary to determine the chemical composition of fertilizer samples collected from different points in the distribution chain. Since fertilizers are sold according to their guaranteed nutrient content, it is important that our laboratories use the appropriate analytical methods to accurately determine this content so that farmers can have the value for money,’ he stated.

He urged management of Envaserve to continue to work hard, adding that ‘due to satisfactory performance of Envaserve Research Consult in the testing of fertilizer, and through the IFDC recommendation, USAID intends supporting the company to put up an ECOWAS regional reference fertilizer and soil laboratory.’

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Envaserve, in a speech, said the research firm is a limited liability company incorporated in Ghana to serve both the private and public sectors in the areas of environmental research and management services.

According to him, ‘The company’s vision of becoming the number one choice for environmental research and consulting firm in Africa is systematically being realized due in great part to the corporate commitment, innovative business model, professional and quality services.’

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency, Shirley Botchwey Ayorkor , stated that the research center would go a long way to developing the area and providing jobs for the youth at Sowutuom.
