Asante Kotoko after near misses in the resuscitated MTN FA Cup final finally laid hands on the silverware after defeating Premiership debutants Inter Allies 2-1 at the Accra Stadium.

It was striker and captain of the day, Seidu Bancey extra-time strike that handed Kotoko their eighth FA Cup title to fulfill their double-League and FA Cup dream.

Winger Ricahrd Mpong grabbed an early opener in the sixth minute when he muscled his way past an Inter Allies defender to strike home with his left foot into the roof beyond the reach of goalkeeper Osei Kwame.

The Herbert Addo men cancelled the lead after the break through Senegalese import Talla Ndiaye.

But the league champions, guided by assistant coach Michael Osei, who stood in for Didi Dramani, who is on a national assignment, fought relentlessly resulting in Bancey’s winner from a Jordan Opoku pass, with just two minutes to the end.
