Danger Looms On Aburi Road

The dangerous portion of the road
Motorists plying the Akuapem-Accra road have expressed the danger posed to them by falling sedimentary rocks near Peduase Lodge on the Akuapem range, which have been depositing at the lower portions of the road.

The Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Madina-Akuapem branch, Atta Kakra, told the DAILY GUIDE that the boulders, which could be found ‘hanging loose, are a death trap to motorists and other road users.’

The Chairman continued that rock particles keep falling into the gutters on that stretch of the road, thereby choking them to prevent the smooth flow of water.

Atta Kakra explained to the DAILY GUIDE that some people attempted solving the problem ‘but have since abandoned it.’

A little closer to the Presidential Lodge at Peduase, the heavy rains yesterday caused another slide which resulted in heavy soil falling into the gutters and also diverting more running water onto the road.

He appealed to the authorities concerned to take steps to solve the problem to avoid the occurrence of any road accident.
