Drivers Throw Blows On Over-Speeding

DRAMA UNFOLDED at Linda Door, a rest stop at Bunso Nkwanta, on the main Accra/Kumasi highway Friday morning, as two angry drivers turned the place into a boxing arena.

They freely traded hefty blows to the astonishment of onlookers.

The drivers, believed to be in their mid 30s, would not budge as people made all frantic efforts to separate them.

Operators of the rest stop had to call some armed policemen who rushed to the place to arrest the drivers

to ensure that the peace at area was not breached.

The belligerent drivers, DAILY GUIDE learnt, were driving different trucks from Accra and heading for Kumasi, about 9:00 am.

It is alleged that one of them tried to overtake the other when they reached the Bunso Junction area, and this ignited the confusion.

The driver, whose truck was in front, reportedly increased the speed of the vehicle just to prevent the fast approaching vehicle from overtaking his truck.

The driver of the truck that was trying to overtake the other nearly rammed his vehicle into an oncoming one.

Both drivers, upon reaching Linda Door, stopped their vehicles by the roadside and they immediately started trading verbal assaults.

The verbal exchanges generated into fierce exchange of punches.

The drivers’ weird action stunned scores of travelers who were having fun at Linda Door. People at the scene tried to separate the feuding drivers, but to no avail.

When it became evident that the drivers were not ready to smoke the peace pipe, managers of the facility called the police to whisk them away.
