Istanbul FC to engage Tema Youth in a friendly exercise on Friday

Istanbul FC will play a friendly against Tema Youth on Friday as the two teams prepare for Ghana’s second-tier League next season.

The two Division One League clubs failed to secure top-flight status during the promotional play-off after losing the single spot to Great Olympics.

The two sides will square off at the Tema sport stadium later on Friday in a friendly exercise to test their mettle ahead of next season.

Istanbul, based at Akyem Techiman in the Eastern Region,  have tried unsuccessfully on two occasions to qualify to the country’s elite division despite qualifying for the promotional play-off.

Head coach Jonas Amissah will use the friendly exercise to monitor new recruits and offer those on the fringes the opportunity.

Tema Youth recorded a 3-1 win over their opponent during the promotional play-off at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi last month.
