Don’t Condemn Us -Coach Appiah

Kwasi Appiah, Black Stars Coach

Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah has hinted that if there is any better time Ghanaians can rally behind the national team, then, it is now.

To the Ghana trainer, condemning the team at this crucial moment when they are on the brink of representing the nation at the football biggest stage would not be fair to the team.

From the team’s Miami base yesterday, he indicated that the team has seen great changes in terms of performance after having played their Netherlands counterparts.

Coach Appiah revealed that the Saturday game offered him and his technical team lessons to employ the right tactics in their subsequent games.

He described the facilities at Miami where the team have pitched camp as par excellent and pointed out that it has added bite to the team’s performance.

The soft-spoken tactician said on telephone that ‘it’s high time every Ghanaian rallied behind the team for a good performance. We have heard some negative comments about that which I consider not the best.

‘I think everybody should support the team now because don’t forget when we succeed, the honour comes to all of us, we are representing the nation and we need everybody’s support and prayers in this tournament.

‘I find the timing very wrong, we are like soldiers in camp preparing for battle. Condemning the team will discourage rather than encourage them. I think the condemnation is not necessary,’ he added.

The team has come under severe criticism after their 0-1 international friendly against Holland.

But the coach has given the assurance that they have picked up the pieces from the Holland game, putting finishing touches to their rehearsals and are bent on giving their best shot in the Brazil showpiece.

Ghana would take on their South Korean counterparts in their last test game on Monday in the US.
