Atiku Abubakar Reacts To Late Emir Of Kano Ado Bayero’s Death

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the death of Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero who died on Friday, 6 June, 2014.

While paying tribute to the deceased, Atiku said hisĀ  he has lost a father in the Emir who passed away at the age of 83.

Condoling with the family, the people and the government of Kano State over the death of Emir, a visibly pained Atiku explained that his relationship with the late Emir was of a father and his favourite son spanning over three decades.

Atiku described the deceased as a pious, humble, upright and honest man whose integrity was unparalleled and who was not only loyal to his people in his immediate domain, but to Nigeria and humanity at large.

According to him, Nigeria just lost a crusader for peace, stability and unity at a time when the nation really needed such his services.

While extolling the late Emir, Atiku said he was a rare leader of enviable and vast wisdom and even the late Dim Chukuemeka Odumegu Ojukwu held him in high esteem which points out Bayero’s role in holding back Nigeria from the brink of disaster.

Atiku said Ado Bayero, who celebrated his 50th Anniversary on the throne in June last year played a significant role sustaining the unity of Nigeria during the January 15, 1966 political crisis, a role that earned him the respect of Ojukwu.

The former vice president also praised the deceased for his ability to rule over a vast, complex, heterogeneous, and cosmopolitan state like Kano without losing his sanity.

Premium Times reports that the late Emir will be buried later this evening at 4:00 p.m. according to Islamic rites.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has also given a statement over the death of Alhaji Ado Bayero.

According to report, his first child named Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero, will ascend the throne next.
