Evans Mensah the host of Newsnight programme on Joy Fm an Accra based private radio station yesterday appeared before an Accra Humans Rights Court to be cross-examined by the state over an interview he conducted with DCOP Rose Atinga-Bio, the Director General in charge of Administration of the Ghana Police Service.

Mensah tendered a transcript of the tape in a court presided over Justice Kofi Essel Mensah on which Atinga-Bio spoke about the writ filed by DSP Mawunyegah Tehoda concerning her dismissal by the service.

Mawunyegah has dragged the Ghana Police Service  to court after she sacked over the  alleged swapping of the 120 kilograms of cocaine with sodium bicarbonate.

The JOY FM presenter entered the dock to be cross-examined by Akwetey Bonsu a state attorney holding brief for Cecil Adadevoh the substantive state attorney handling the case.

Evans told the court he was a staff of JOY FM which was subsidiary of Multimedia Group.

When asked if the organization he worked for could sue and be sued he answered in the affirmative.

The state attorney said since Adadevoh was not around he would pray the court for the case to be adjourned.

The case was subsequently adjourned to June 9 2014.

Tehoda had during her examination in-chief denied she knew anything about the storeroom where the cocaine, which was supposed to be used as evidence against Nana Ama Martin a cocaine suspect, was kept by the police.

She said she did not know that the security of the exhibits room had been breached and could not remember exactly where she was on the day the exhibit was supposed to be tendered in court.

DSP Tehoda during cross-examination by Adadevoh  was asked about a statement she alleged was made by DCOP Rose Atinga-Bio on Joy FM said she could not remember the exact statement but would bring evidence of it later.

The police officer also noted that COP Prosper Agblorh the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) equally made some statements which she would make available to the court later.

Mrs. Tehoda has filed a writ against the State, seeking a declaration that her detention in cells beyond 48 hours by the BNI was unlawful.

She is also seeking a declaration that her prosecution by the State over the alleged swapping of cocaine was malicious and wants compensation for her dismissal.
